National Teams

The Queen of Football leaves

The Women's National Team, which is trying to become one of the elite teams, will be missing their star player. Pavlina Ščasná unexpectedly announced her intention to stop playing for the National Team. She said recently, 'I have been considering this for a long time. In October 2007 during a National Team game against Spain, I was seriously injured and was not able to play for nine months. Throughout 2008, I thought about how the injury had affected my ability to play at the top level. I decided that playing for my club and the National Team risked futher injury so I have regrettably decided to stop playing for the National Team.' Her decision was communicated in a letter to Tomáš Kubíček, the Director of Women's Football, at ČMFS.

Tomáš Kubíček said, 'This is a great loss to women's football as no other players at her level and she serves as an inspiration to many young players. We will have to work things out, just as we did when Pavlina was injured. We would like to officially say goodbye to Pavlina before the kick-off of their next international home match.'
